The world is currently navigating a significant challenge as baby boomers age and experience increased rates of cognitive deterioration. In our La Crosse County community, over 10.6% of individuals aged 65 and older are living with dementia, highlighting the need for continued awareness and support for those affected by this condition. In the United States, approximately 16 million family caregivers provide unpaid essential support to loved ones with dementia, helping them manage emotional, physical, and financial needs. The unpaid care costs total $360 billion in 2024 and are forecasted to increase to nearly $1 trillion (in today’s dollars) by mid-century.
