2005

Artspace, Inc., conducts a feasibility study for an arts center with a new theatre included. Request and financial support come from the City of La Crosse, the County of La Crosse and La Crosse Community Theatre. Study results in the development of an arts district.

2007

Land is offered for the construction of a new theatre that would serve as a centerpiece for the new developing arts district.

2008

Reorganized the operational structure of La Crosse Community Theatre to facilitate a new vision of the organization.

March 2010

Wisconsin Act 152 becomes Law (Statute 70.11 (45)) providing tax exempt status to a theatre built on donated land near Mississippi River. A new Theatre Oversight Committee is formed with John Lyche appointed as Chair.

October 2010

Finalized donation of land agreement. Public announcement of new Theatre Committee Plan.

January 2011

Preliminary drawings completed, including exterior elevations and conceptual drawings. Initial cost estimate for construction established.

Scope of offerings in the new theater:

  • Theatrical performances a main stage
  • Theatrical performances in a secondary performance space
  • Availability in schedule for other performance groups
  • Collaborative and rental income opportunities

Murals are sculpted in Lincoln, Neb.
